Today was a normal day. We did our morning business. Morning business is when we get out our homework, check our mailboxes, and write down our homework for that night. We also found out that we have a new student. Her name is Gabby.
After that, we did spelling. Spelling is when we either take a spelling test/pre-test or correct spelling homework. We corrected spelling homework (pages 314 and 315)
Next, it was time to read The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. We read the second chapter and reviewed vocabulary words in the story. The second chapter was called: What Lucy Found There.
Shortly after that, we needed to go to an assembly. It was about school rules and expectations. Mr. Coley said “You need to be on your best behavior, because this is an assembly about behavior”.
When we got back, we began our story maps for chapter 2 of The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. The sentence that we came up with was: Mr. Tumnus, a friendly faun, wanted to kidnap Lucy and take her to the White Witch, but he didn’t have the heart to, so he changed his mind, took Lucy back to the lamppost, and she went back home through the wardrobe. We also tried to finish our story maps before recess but not all of us did, so we had to do it later.
Everyone scrambled to recess after that. I had to bring some books back to the library, so I did that at recess. By the time I got back, recess was almost over, so I ate my snack and lined up outside my classroom.
In math, we learned how to add and subtract decimals. We practiced adding and subtracting decimals on our whiteboards. Then we reviewed our homework and started it in class.
After math, we went to lunch. Today at the cafeteria the lunch was bean and cheese burritos but I didn’t buy lunch. I brought my lunch.
When we returned from lunch, we did S.S.R. (Super Silent Reading). I read Diary of a Wimpy Kid and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. These were some of the books I checked out at recess when I returned the other books.
Afterwards, we did science. We learned about solids, liquids and gases. Mr. Coley showed us equations. The equations were:
- Solid + heat = liquid + heat = gas.
- Gas – heat = liquid – heat = solid.
Finally, it was the end of the school day. So this is Cat, signing off. Meow! Thank you for a great day!
